There are many great ways to get involved in positively impacting JC Booth’s students, teachers and administrators! Review what each committee needs.

Media Center

Assists with managing the circulation desk (checking books in and out using our online catalog, Destiny); helps students find books; relieves the media teacher during lunch break; takes down old and puts up new seasonal media center bulletin boards throughout the year; and/or assists with other miscellaneous task such as laminating items for teachers and keeping the library tidy for students and faculty.

Commitment: A SignUp Genius will be sent out so volunteers can choose a regular or flexible shift and/or task that works best for them. Shifts during school hours throughout the year, especially at lunchtime.


Approaches businesses to sponsor and purchase advertising space in the PTO family directory in Aug/Sept. Reviews and edits student contact database. Sends the finalized database and ads to the printing company and in September, distributes the PTO directory to those students whose families are registered with PTO.

Commitment: In August and September, flexible hours.

Book Fair

The Book Fairs are one week in duration held in the Fall and in the Spring in the Media Room. Assistance is needed with set up and tear down. During the Book Fairs, sales clerks are needed to help students with selection of items and process payments for their purchases.

Commitment: A SignUp Genius will be sent out to seek volunteers to work at the fairs as well as assist with setting up a couple of business days prior to.


Organizes and Hosts four teachers’ luncheons during the school year using parent donations and PTO Funds.

Commitment: To assist during lunch on 4 times per years: 9/25, 12/4, 3/5, 5/7 and/or provide food/monetary donations for the luncheons. A Sign-Up Genius will be sent out in advance of each event.

Academic Recognition

Celebrates Booth students (honor and high honor roll) for their academic success each semester through recognition, awards, and luncheons in September (for the prior year 2nd term) and February (for the current year 1st term).

Commitment: A SignUp Genius will be sent out in advance for assistance with preparing the awards, presenting them, and/or providing food and refreshments to the honorees.

Lost and Found

Once a month before school, oversees Beta Club volunteers in gathering and sorting all lost & found items.

Commitment: A SignUp Genius will be sent out in advance for approx. 1 hour of volunteering one morning each month.

Staff Appreciation

Organizes and distributes treats/gifts to teachers and staff throughout the school year (e.g., monthly birthdays, holiday gifts, teacher appreciation week in May). Helps serve post-planning luncheon for school staff at the end of the school year.

Commitment: A SignUp Genius will be sent out whenever specific assistance is needed, and in advance of the post – planning luncheon for donations of food and volunteers to serve food and refreshments.

8th Grade Party


This committee coordinates an end-of-year celebration for Booth 8th grade students. The event is funded by PTO and provides inflatables, a dunk tank, games, a DJ, food and beverages. A special t – shirt is designed and sold to 8th graders in the fall to support some of the expenses.

Commitment: Attendance at planning meetings commencing in September. A Sign Up Genius will be sent out to request food/beverage donations and assistance with setup/supervision/clean up at the event.

Donut/Bake Sales

Sells donuts/baked goods to Booth students, parents and staff before and after school. Sale dates are TBA. Sales on second day limited to what is left over.

Commitment: A SignUp Genius will be sent out in advance of each sales event for donations and assistance with selling.

Spring Fling Festival

Coordinates a festival for the families of Booth to be held in the spring. The committee approaches local businesses to donate to Silent Auction/ Raffle Basket portion of the event & in advance of the event, collects money from fmailies that pre-buy their Spring Fling tickets. On day of event, the committee sets up the event stations.

Commitment: Attend preplanning meetings leading up to the event. A SignUp Genius will be sent out seeking help with approaching businesses for sponsorship, setting up, supervising and cleaning up after the event.

Luau/Dodge Ball Party

Coordinates this PTO hosted dance party after school in January. Provides ticket sales before the event and at-the-door. Provides a DJ, dodgeball competition with prizes, pizza, drinks, baked goods and a candy concession stand. The dodgeball will be overseen by Booth PE Coaches.

Commitment: Attend pre-planning meetings leading up to the event. Sign-Up Genius will be sent out seeking help with selling tickets before and after school the week prior to the event, setting up, supervising, and cleaning-up after the event, as well as donations for food & prizes.

Spirit Wear

Sells Spirit Wear (Booth apparel for children and adults) during several school events and online throughout the school year. Includes cash handling, restocking and selling apparel. Also prepares the incoming 6th grade Warrior Wear packages to be sold in April based on orders coming in from elementary schools.

Commitment: Assist with set up, selling and clean up whenever Spirit Wear is sold at an event, as well as for the grade 6 Warrior Wear packaging in April. A SignUp Genius will be sent out in advance of each event seeking volunteers. Selling is approximately 1 – 3 hours per session depending on the event.

TCBY frozen yogurt sales

Sells TCBY frozen yogurt in the cafeteria during lunch time to students and staff. Generally working in pairs, volunteers handle cash during sales and restock yogurt from a dedicated freezer.

Commitment: Approximately 2 hours of yogurt sales during lunch time Tues. – Fri. during the school year. Sign Up Genius will be sent out to obtain volunteers for various shifts.

Booth 101

Hosts an evening information session in April for incoming 6th grade parents. The committee provides a slide show along with a panel of current JC Booth parents. Also provides info on school expectations and how to prepare future grade 6th graders for middle school.

Commitment: Attendance at planning meetings in advance of the event and/or attendance at the event to welcome the parents and address any questions they may have.
